WE WON!

I want to thank the many people who contributed so much to make this victory possible. This was truly a team effort, and the result is very gratifying. This is just the beginning, and now the hard work of making Sunnyvale a better place to live and work starts. I hope you'll continue to help me work to achieve this - Jim.

Latest news update - October 27

I love Sunnyvale, and I love being a Sunnyvale resident. I grew up in the Bay Area, and I made Sunnyvale my home 20 years ago, when I graduated from U.C. Berkeley. We live in a wonderful city with an incredibly diverse population and a brilliant work force, and a quality of life that is the envy of the nation. But Sunnyvale faces serious challenges:

  • We must find a way to respond to the national economic crisis and the mismanaged California budget, both of which threaten Sunnyvale's basic services.
  • We face housing growth in the North and a dramatic change to our downtown area that is straining city services and public safety beyond their capacity.
  • We face dwindling energy and water resources and rising costs for both. Water consumption, in particular, is the next great challenge that California cities face.
  • We must complete the Downtown!
  • We need to find a balance between growth, industry, conservation, and available services, so that Sunnyvale can continue to be a place where we can enjoy living, working, and raising our children.

More than ever, Sunnyvale needs serious people with a commitment to public service to step up, serve with integrity, and find solutions to these problems. This is why I am running for seat #3 on the Sunnyvale City Council, currently held by John Howe, who will be termed out after this year.

As an engineer, I've spent my career finding effective solutions to difficult problems. As a Library Board Trustee, I've worked hard to listen to residents, improve public services, and serve the needs of the community. As Sunnyvale's next City Councilmember, I will provide the smart leadership that Sunnyvale needs, so we can solve the serious problems that challenge us.

If you choose to elect me to the Sunnyvale City Council, I will represent the needs and interest of Sunnyvale residents, workers, and business owners. I hope you'll take every opportunity to tell me what issues matter to you, and what ideas you have to make Sunnyvale a better place to live and work. And I hope you'll support me on Election Day in November!
